Pusat Inovasi Agroteknologi (PIAT) as known as Agrotechnology Innovation Center (AIC) is the answer of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in facing the era of the ASEAN Economic Community (MEA) in 2015. AIC actively forms a systematic and integrated foundation in realizing the sovereignty in the agricultural sector as a national economic pillar in term of becoming a producer of agricultural commodities who are reliable and sovereign. By emphasizing the element of innovation, AIC utilizes UGM's land resources from research support in the field of Agriculture to become a productive unit which is capable of producing innovative Agricultural products. Currently, AIC manages 35 ha of productive land in Kalitirto, Berbah, Sleman and covers an area of 151 ha in Mangunan-Girirejo, Dlingo-Imogiri, Bantul, Yogyakarta. AIC has great aspirations in the development of the field of agriculture and these ideas are reflected in the following vision and missions
Vision:
Becoming a Center of Excellence in the field of integrated international tropical agriculture.
Missions:
- Tridharma services based on integrated agriculture which are environmentally friendly
- The development of agricultural innovation become a center of excellence in integrated tropical agriculture
- Implementing innovative technologies that benefit the community, government, the private sector and academics.
The AIC of UGM consists of two divisions, namely Division of Management of Sustainable Food Resources and Division of Sustainable Natural Resource Conservation and supported by departments.
